JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Nanjangud, affiliated to the University of Mysore was established in the year 1968 with the Divine Blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the great visionary and the 23rd Pontiff of Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamstana Muth, Suttur.
Since the inception and under the aegis of JSS Mahavidyapeetha; The College has obtained 2(F) and 12(B) status as per the UGC norms and accredited by NAAC with B++ Grade with 2.77 CGPA during the III cycle of Assessment in 2021. The College has been rendering selfless service through providing quality and value-based education to the students of all sections in the faculties of Arts, Commerce, Business Management, Science, and Computer Application. The College caters to the need of students not only in proliferation of our ancient sacred scriptures, but also in enhancement of modern technology. Notably, the College is built in a sprawling 13.17 acres of land at the outskirts of Nanjangud town – Deveerammanahalli with adequate infrastructure, well facilitated Indoor- Outdoor sports stadiums, Yoga-Centre, Multi-Gym, well equipped Laboratories, Library and Information Centre with various reference books, INFLIBNET, Internet and Wi-Fi facilities. Some outstanding Yoga exponents have been Yoga-Instructors/Gurus at National and International level.
The College Library consists more than 30,000 volumes of books and adequate number of journals and it also subscribes to various newspapers and periodicals for information and knowledge upgrade. The College has excellent highly qualified and well experienced teaching and non-teaching faculty. The result in the University examinations is due to dedicated and constant effort by the staff. The teaching aids used by the staff are modern which help the students to learn the subject thoroughly. Parents-teachers meetings are held periodically after internal tests and students’ performance is conveyed directly to the parents. Women’s Hostel facility also provided for Girl students within the campus with high security and good discipline.
The college canteen provides quality food to the students and staff at affordable prics. NSS unit of the College has been functioning under the observations of the concerned programme officer. Annual special camp at adopted village is conducted with an objective to create awareness about the importance of clean water, water-home diseases, tree sapling plantation, cleanliness, health awareness and free health check up camps for the benefit of the public. The YRC unit of the College involves in organizing blood donation camps, creating awareness programmes about health.
The NCC Company is an active unit in the College, which has produced some outstanding Cadets who participated in RD parades and Tal Sainik Camps, held at New Delhi.
Besides, these pro-active activities; the contribution of the Alumni Association of the College is indeed, remarkable. It’s a matter of pride to admit that some alumnus of the College have been rendering their service as Academicians, Researchers, Philanthropists, Law Practioners, Industrialists, Entrepreneurs in the different spares of both public and private sectors.
It is my privilege to admit the progressive achievements of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, the Socio-cultural Institution founded by His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the great visionary and the 23rd Pontiff of Sri Kshethra Suttur Math, which has pioneered the concept of Education as a tool for Social change. When there were no educational institutions to meet the ends of the students of all sections of Nanjangud region, JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science was established in the year 1968 in Nanjangud town, the aim of the institution was to impart the need based and quality education to the students of all sections of the region, especially, the students who come from the rural background and poor families.
