About the Department
  • The Computer Science Department was started in the year 2008.
  • The Department has a well-equipped ICT enabled laboratory with 32 computer systems with 10 Mbps broadband internet facility. The lab has complete LAN connectivity.
  • The faculty and students are encouraged and allowed to use Internet facilities in the department.
  • The department has implemented CBCS scheme as per Mysore University regulations.
  • In order to promote and to encourage the students to excel in their studies, various cash prizes have been instituted. Cash prizes will be given to the students who excel in their examinations every year on the occasion of the Founders’- Day.

Brief History of the Department

The department of Kannada established in the year 1968, ever since the beginning of this college. The historical development of this department have crossed more than four decades and with the innumerable academic scholars have served and nurtured this dept. through the ages. We are deeply involved in promoting the Kannada language and literature through different academic activities. The main vision of this department is to induce language and literary sensibilities in our students were mainly from rural environment. The faculty members are working hard for the developments of academic excellence of the students. In order to comply with our main intention of imparting knowledge and overall personality development of the students, organizing seminars, guest lectures by scholars, group discussions, discourses regularly as a result of this endeavor department awarded with good results in every examinations conducted by University of Mysore.

 
It may be right context to remember a few faculty members who has served in this department and paved the way for its significant achievements, for the past five years; Dr. Sarojammanni, Prof. H.P. Gangadharaswamy, Dr. A. Gayathri, Sri. Krishnappa, Sri. Mahendra Murthy, Gulappaswamy, Shwetha G M, Sowmya G M, Poornimal S and Pushpalatha J.

Department Library:-

The department of Kannada has maintained its own library with 100 titles other than in the general library of the college. There are more than 7560 titles in general library of the college. The books on the stack are of different genres of Kannada literature, and linguistics. The Department also procures academic journals and literary magazines 17 in nos. for the purpose of updating knowledge of our students.

Activities of the Department:- 

In every academic year a charitable guest lecturer and also a special lecture, Workshops on appreciation of literary works, Young students Poets meet will be organized every year. To encourage the students writing efficiency and their expressions organized the special lecture, student’s seminar and quiz competitions are organized. To educate, enrich knowledge and to explore the creativity of the student’s wall magazine is in use from many years. Award of cash prize also instituted to encourage the meritorious students who have scored highest percentage of marks both in language and literature.

A Special program has organized by the department with the collaboration of Kannada Pustaka Pradikara, Bangalore “Nanna Mechina Pustaka” on 11-01-2020. Dr.

H.R. Ravikumar, Govt. First Grade College, Gundlupete was the Judge for the program.
