History is fascinating subject, because it happens to be the meeting ground of different disciplines. History is information, History is education and enlightenment. The study of this subject comprehends all human activities. The past experience helps us to gain a crucial attitude towards our own civilization. An understanding of the present is solely dependent on knowledge of the past.
History teaches us innumerable lessons of all kinds, personal as well as social and indeed a store house of lessons. According to Bacon, “History make men wise”. History is universal teacher of mankind teaching us what should do and what we should avoid, pointing to morals and distinguish between good and bad. The most important function of history is to illuminate human nature.
