Specialized services provided by the library

  • Manuscripts:  Any one can access College Albums, Photographs, books details.
  • Reference: Web-based reference services in digital environment are an addition to our traditional library reference. Digital reference and information services are available through INFLIBNET.
  • Reprography:  Reprographic facility with printer is available in the Library.
  • ILL (Inter Library Loan Service):  Our students are permitted to refer in our sister institutions.
  • Information deployment and notification (Information Deployment and Notification)
    • Information dissemination:  Information is disseminated through current awareness, College website, and oral information. Library tries to install new web sense products to map the site addresses. Online search facilities are available Integrated catalogue to transfer information is available. Number of online queries is posted through mail.
    • OPAC:  Electronically catalogued bibliographic description gives location and holding information. It is an effective search tool to map the entire holdings of our library.
    • Monograph:  Author, Title, Browse Subject (Keyword), Browse shelf (Class Number), any word, Publisher, Series, Document Type, Language and Reviews
    • Search engine integration:  Integrates network search engine in WEBOPAC. Library sources are in different databases to distinguish different resource reduced space eg. E-Resources, full text books, back volumes and journal articles etc. Advanced reservation facility is provided. Bibliographic records can be saved and printed. The multilingual display format is highly appreciated for regional language collection.
    • Internet Access & Internet services in the library:  Free Internet access available on 10 systems from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Journal articles, database, bibliography and e-Books can be accessed. Facility for printing and downloading of online resources is available.
  • Download :
    • Internet Download Managers are Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, Live Messenger, etc.
    • Downloading policy: Only educational material can be downloaded. Students and staff are not allowed to download any software, games or entertainment material. Library plans to download full text books for students and e-books for library users. Internet bandwidth facilitates speedy downloading
  • Printing:  HP LaserjetM1005 printer is available for printing and scanning for the users.
  • Reading list/ Bibliography compilation:
    • Before starting the course or any new syllabus, the library tries to obtain the books required for teaching and learning. Circulation desk in-charge notes down the requirement in the reading list register.
    • Reading list service provides the list of new books for each department. If the research scholars need the list of literature related to their work, bibliography compilation work is done by the library staff. OPAC serves as an easy tool for bibliography compilation.
  • In-house/remote access to e-resources: In-house resource list can be accessed through WEBOPAC. Users can check the list and be aware of availability of materials. Item access is allowed only in person. Remote access is through WEBOPAC and intranet.
  • User Orientation and awareness:
    • Through PowerPoint presentation, the users are introduced to the general techniques of the library usage and services available like special request, renewing and reserving books, and arrangement of books in the different sections in the library, the organization and facilities of the library.
    • Books and other items, ways to locate online facilities, new technologies are available and how to use internet and institutional policies to make use of the online resources are also explained.
    • User education programs provide information on the communication technologies available in the library.
    • Library staff tries to ensure the use of resources by the students. Freshers are orientated to develop library culture.
  • Assistance in searching Databases :
    • Library staff render help to search online resources. Eg: e-Journals, databases, documents, literary reviews etc.,
    • Subscribed online resources and institutions list are displayed on the College Website and library notice board.
    • Bibliographic databases, full-text, e-Journals, abstracts, free e-books website lists are provided.
    • Students are helped to troubleshoot, to plug Adobe Acrobat Reader and to download PDF files.
    • Assistance is given to access biographical information, statistical information encyclopedic overviews of topics; they are guided to access specific website to access government information, commercial sites, advertisements, today’s news, organization groups and personal web pages related to a topic.
    • Students are guided to search articles with subject terms and keywords appropriate to their topic.
    • If full-text article is not available directly from the database, students are instructed to check the article from the library’s print periodicals collection.
    • Students are guided to refer in our sister Institutions
    • Library staff are friendly and eager to provide support to staff and students.
  • INFLIBNET/IUC Facilities:Subscribed membership with NLIST, INFLIBNET, rich research tools and resources are available through INFLIBNET.
